Children’s Place Day Nurseries opened their doors here at Dewsbury in June 1991
The nursery has so much to be proud of, including their extremely positive reputation of providing excellent childcare on site at Dewsbury and District Hospital for the employees of the NHS Trust and the local community. We work closely with the Mid Yorkshire Trust Childcare Support Services to ensure that we meet the needs of parents and families, offering sessional and full day care for 51 weeks throughout the year.
Dewsbury Children’s Place has three, welcoming, light, bright rooms with a highly qualified staff team that provide quality early years experiences for children 0-5 years. Our baby room, toddler room and pre-school room all have free-flow access into our wonderful gardens that are designed to enhance children’s learning through play experiences.
Our wonderful, challenging, and exciting outdoors give children the opportunities to explore and investigate a natural environment full of awe and wonder. The two to five’s garden offers a huge sand area, growing and planting areas, a quiet, peaceful area and peace garden that envelopes children’s wellbeing and our adventure play area that encourages children’s physical, confidence, and social and emotional development.
In our baby garden, the children can sit in our wooden playhouse, looking out into the garden, or they take can a trip along the path and over the bridge. The garden also has seating areas and paved sensory pathways for the babies to explore.

Ofsted Rating
In May 2019 Dewsbury Children’s Place was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and it was recognised that “staff provide a welcoming environment which is highly praised by parents and enables children to settle in quickly. The key-person system is implemented well. This helps children to form secure attachments with staff.“
