The children found lots of ladybirds on a bamboo tree in our sensory part of the garden. They were fascinated and it led to lots of amazing questions from the children and they all learnt some wonderful ladybird facts … who knew there are 5000 different species of lady birds and can live between 1-2 years!
We have already started celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, the children enjoyed painting using traditional Union Jack flag colours, we used kitchen foil which made a noise every time the children made a mark! This was so much fun.
The Barkerend pre-school children have shown an interest in building and construction. The staff set up the builders' tray and the children absolutely loved it, we then extended this activity out into the garden on a larger scale.
The children attending our Barkerend nursery have been showing an interest in mark making and cars, so we put the two together to make car painting marks. This became a very popular activity, the children explored the different marks making big and small car marks and also hand and finger prints.
The toddlers attending our Dewsbury nursery have been really interested in observing the caterpillars and have already noticed and commented that they are growing bigger. The toddlers have used green and red fruits to make their own yummy caterpillar fruit kebab. They also used their fingers to make marks in paint to represent their caterpillars.
This week the toddlers attending the Dewsbury nursery took part in their sports day. They were very competitive and showed determination as they joined in the different races which were egg and spoon race, sack race and bean bag race. Oral Health is so important for everyone. We promote good oral hygiene within nursery on a daily basis, through healthy eating, books and role play. This week the Barkerend nursery had the Fluoride Varnish team visit them to apply Fluoride Varnish on the over 2’s teeth to keep them healthy.
The children attending our Barkerend nursery extended their play by helping each other build a big ramp for the cars, they showed great team work, patience, positivity and problem solving.

The babies attending our Dewsbury nursery are well underway with their preparations for celebrating the Queens Jubilee. They have been busy exploring glue and different textured collage pieces of material and shiny fabric, creating decorations for our planned celebrations.
